Clarence Davis 96, of Powhatan Point, OH died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born October 5, 1918 a son of the late August and Catherine Darnley Marling in Warwood, WV. He was an army veteran of WWII serving in the army. Clarence worked for North American Coal # 1 mine for over 40 years as a mechanic and tipple operator. He was married to Sarah Kelly for 73 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 228 as well as the Masons. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Tom Davis, and a son in law Bob May. He is survived by his wife Sarah, his children Sam Jeanne Davis and Anna May both of Powhatan Point, OH, a sister Georgia Biggs of Mt. Vernon, OH, five grand children, Carla Raymond Brandon, Lori Davis, Bobby “Pinch” May, Tomasina Saffel and Tina Atkinson as well as four great grand children, Kelly Eric Hill and Ty Brandon, Miranda Hutchison and Mason May. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 186 Main St. Powhatan Point, OH 43942. A military service will be conducted by the Powhatan American Legion Post 228 at 7:30 pm. Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11 am with Pastor Lorna Knight officiating.
