William "Buddy" Van Nostrand

September 18, 1924 - May 7, 2015

William “Buddy” Van Nostrand, 90, went to be with the Lord May 7, 2015, after courageously battling an extended illness. Buddy was born in Princess Anne County September 18, 1924 to Mr. William H. and Mrs. Maud F. Van Nostrand. Buddy then married the love of his life, Hazel Allen Van Nostrand and raised three wonderful children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Buddy retired as a Public Works Supervisor for the city of Virginia Beach and was known to enjoy hunting, fishing and Nascar.

Buddy is survived by his children, Larry R. Van Nostrand, Debra Lett and Robin and Ken R. Kilgore; his 6 grandchildren, Valerie Paul, Bobby, Allen Ashley, Catherine James, Emily and Andrew; his 6 great grandchildren, Connor, Natalie, Megan, Cara, Hazel and Lauren; as well as many extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Hazel, as well as his 4 sisters Ruby, Ruth, Elsie and Joan. Many thanks are given to Steve and Margie of Sentara Village Rosemont for their loving care and dedication.

A graveside service will be Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00AM in Nimmo United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2200 Princess Anne Road, VB, with Rev. Caroline A. Jinkins of First Presbyterian Church of VB officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 10 from 5-7PM in Altmeyer Funeral Home- Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., VB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Buddy’s memory to the VBSPCA.
