Bliss, Alberta Mae “Bertie”, 89, of Wheeling, WV, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, OH.
She was born December 20, 1919 in Glen Dale, WV, a daughter of the late Orgie Glen and Violet Mae Furbee Freeman.
Mrs. Bliss was retired from the retail business. She was a member of Blake Brothers American Legion Post #46 Auxiliary, Benwood and a Methodist by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Bliss; two sons, Glen Frederick and Albert Bowman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn M. and Joe Rodrigues and Imogene and Willard Randolph; a brother, Orgie G. Freeman, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Claudette Bowman; four granddaughters, Susan Jeff Mellis of Clinton Township, MI, Christine Bowman of Virginia Beach, VA, Debra Bowman of Seabrook, NH, and Janice Bowman of Wrenthen, ME; five nieces, Janice Arthur Granda of Glen Dale, Cindy Gunto of Moundsville, Barbara Campanizzi of Massillon, Ohio, Joyce Barry Larson of St. Clairsville, OH, and Judy Kenneth Russell of Weirton, WV; two nephews, Charles Joyce Freeman of Jacksonville, FL and Rev. Joe Gina Rodrigues of Buckhannon, WV; several great-nieces and nephews, including Lori Smith of Wheeling.
Friends will be received 4-8 pm Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 6, 2009 with Rev. Billy Ray Carpenter officiating.
Entombment in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
