Age 74

Billy Dean Allen 74, of Lyman Drive, East Liverpool, Ohio died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at The Medical Center of Beaver following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Allen was born in Wellsville, Ohio on April 15, 1926 and was the son of the late James A. and Elsie V. Fickes Allen.

Mr. Allen living most of his life in East Liverpool, was a carpenter by trade and owner/operator of Allen Construction Company for 45 years. He had previously worked at the former Crucible Steel Mill in Midland, Pa. as a cement finisher. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II from 1943 to 1946 aboard the U.S.S. Williams Destroyer D.E. in the Pacific and Atlantic. He was an active member of Fredericktown Christian Church for over 50 years, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He also volunteered his time in designing, building additions, and remodeling of the church. He also attended Wellsville High School and was an avid boater.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Roberta Miller Allen. They were married on May 17, 1950 by the former Rev. Robert Dyke.

Mr. Allen is survived by a son, Dr. William D. Allen and his wife Karen of Zanesville, Ohio and their four children, Matthew Dean Allen, Miranda Lynn Allen, Emily Christine Allen and Eric John Allen; one sister, Mrs. June Ann Williamson of Wellsville, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James A. Allen and Thomas Allen; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Andrews and Mrs. Ruby O’Rourke.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 15872 St. Clair Avenue, Calcutta, Ohio, on Monday, March 26, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Brother Tom White and Brother Orville Shepherd of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Sunday, March 25, 2001 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Fredericktown Christian Church.
