Charles E. Walgate, age 78, of East Liverpool passed away at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on Saturday, May 23, 2015, after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y. on August 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Harvey and Agnes Walgate and had lived most of his life in this area. He had been employed at Marsh Bellofram in the maintenance dept. at one time and while living in California, he was an independent truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union.
Mr. Walgate was a Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in Korea.
On July 14, 1963 he was married to the late Eva Heaton Walgate, who passed away on September 28, 2003.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Walgate and his wife, Sandy, of East Liverpool, one daughter, Denise Walgate of East Liverpool, one sister; Kathy Burton of Buffalo, N.Y. Four grandchildren; Rob Walgate and his wife Rachel of Medina, Ohio, Jacob Walgate and his wife, Karolynn, of East Liverpool, J.T. Jiles of West Virginia and Gina Gulutz of East Liverpool and four great grandchildren; R.J., Rosalyn, Kendall, and Christopher.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Herbert and William Walgate.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Boyce United Methodist Church on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM with Pastor Alvin Talkington of the Church officiating.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Columbiana Co. Memorial Park.
