George Robinson Waddell, 88, of St. Clairsville, OH., loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Wheeling Hospital. He was born October 15, 1926 in Bellaire, OH a son of the late Paul V. and Grace Robinson Waddell.
George graduated from Muskingum College in 1949 with a business degree and worked in the insurance business eventually owning the Waddell Insurance Agency in St. Clairsville.
George was passionate about gardening, thoroughbred racing, bridge and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Scott Waddell and a sister, Pauline Waddell Donkin.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Esther Grace Waddell; their four daughters, Susan Rick Moore of The Woodlands, TX., Nancy Stephen Moore of Franklin, OH., Ann John Munroe of Pittsburgh, PA., and Paula Doug Luers Henwood of Butler, OH; twin sisters, Mary Waddell Sutherland and Patricia Waddell both of northern Michigan; sister, Emily Waddell Clark of Long Beach, CA; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; long time friends, Bill Abraham and Emanuel Mehallis.
Private services will be held at Muskingum University at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Clairsville High School Athletic Department 102 Woodrow Avenue St. Clairsville, OH 43950.
