James Cochran Sr.

James C. Cochran, Sr., 82, of Bellaire, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Shadyside Care Center Shadyside, Ohio.<br> Jim was born May 23, 1922 in Bellaire, Ohio and was the son of the late Carl J. and Martha Kinney Cochran. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.<br> He attended Denison University from 1940 to 1942 before entering the Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantryman’s badge. After serving his country, he completed his education at Denison University. In 1949, he married the former Ann McGraw and worked with his father at Cochran Electric Company as an Electrical Contractor until his retirement in 1985. Jim was an avid stamp collector and gardner. He was an active member of the Bellaire Presbyterian Church where he served as trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and Elder. He was also a member of American Legion Post #52, VFW Post #626 And DAV Post #117, Masonic Ionic Lodge #438 F & AM, all of Bellaire, Osiris Temple, the National Electrical Contractor’s Association and served on the Veterans Service Commission of Belmont County.<br> In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann McGraw Cochran in 1994 and his second wife, Alice Riegner Cochran in 2000.<br> Surviving are his children, Joanne Sullivan and her husband, Edward, of Wheeling, James C. Cochran Jr., of Bellaire, Barbara McFarland and her husband John, of Wellsburg, Martha "Marty" Roth and her husband Barry, of Shadyside and William Cochran of Bellaire. He is survived by five grandchidren, Taylor Archer, Virginia McFarland, Annette Vingia, Jonathan McFarland and James McFarland and one great grandchild, Kaylee Boyce. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Ramsay of Bellaire, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Katie Schaefer.<br> Friends received Friday 2pm- 8pm and Saturday from 1pm-3pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441-37th Street, Bellaire where funeral services will be held with Pastor Pete Walburn officiating.<br> Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire.<br> Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire Presbyterian Church, P.O.
