Katherine Maroon Jones

July 2, 1929 - March 19, 2001

Katherine A. ”Kay” Maroon Jones of Cypress Avenue, Wheeling, died Monday March 19, 2001 at Wheeling Hospital at Medical Park.

Kay was born in Wheeling, daughter of the late Asaad and Anna Saad Maroon. She was the former owner and operator of the Ideal Beauty Salon which was located in the Laconia Building in Wheeling, a longtime employee at Kaufmann’s of Wheeling, and attended Our Lady of Lebanon Meronite Catholic Church in Wheeling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence P. Jones, a sister, Virginia Simon, and three brothers, Louis, Joseph, and Thomas Maroon.

Surviving are two brothers, John Maroon of Wheeling, and Dr. Michael Maroon; two sisters, Cecelia ”Cil” Maroon of Wheeling, and Lena Joseph of Wheeling; Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday March 21, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm grove, Wheeling. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday March 22, 2001 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Meronite Church with the Rev. Georges Chaanine as celebrant. Interment will be at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
