Mae Wickham

November 12, 1916 - March 1, 2005

Wickham, Mae O. Moore Johnston, 88, of McMechen, WV, formerly of Sistersville, WV passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born November 12, 1916 in Middlebourne, WV a daughter of the late Elias and Margaret Catherine Cooper Moore of Tyler County, WV.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Virgil D. Wickham and Franklin Johnston; a daughter, Jackie Lynn; four brothers, E. Glenn, Wayne, Harry and Ivan Moore; three sisters, Mary Grace Moore, Edith Moore and Hilda Moore Anderson.
Mae was a retired histology technician with Reynolds Memorial, East Ohio Regional and Bellaire City Hospitals. She was a devout Christian and thirty-three year member of the First Christian Church, McMechen, where she was a deaconess Emeritus, former board member, choir member and member of The Loyal Gleaners Class. She was also a long time volunteer with the Wheeling Soup Kitchen, as well as a well known seamstress throughout the area. Surviving are three sons, Eddie Johnston and his wife Emily of Malta, Ohio, Dean Johnston and his wife Jane of Glen Dale, WV and Mike Johnston of Wheeling, WV; four daughters, Natalie Johnston Doty of Wintersville, Ohio, Catherine Johnston Cuddeback and her husband Robert of Michigan City, IN, Debbie Monahan and her husband Paul of Houston, TX , Charla Schultz and her husband Tim of McMechen;10 grandchildren, Raelinn Doty Stegall of Chattanooga, TN, Mark Johnston of Zanesville, OH, Kerri Johnston Stevens of Gahana, OH, Amy Johnston Herne, of Pittsburgh, PA, Greg Johnston, of Colorado Springs, CO., Michael Johnston of Morgantown, WV, Olivia Johnston of Sistersville, Ryan Johnston of Wheeling, Jaclyn Johnston of McConnellsville, OH, and Jason Wickham of McMechen; and 6 great grandchildren, Kate, Vaughn and Maggie Stegall, Tyler and Travis Johnston and Sophie Stevens.
Friends received from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen. Interment in Archer
