PETER J. BERLINGHOF
Peter John Berlinghof, 76, passed away on June 17, 2004 in his home with his family at his side. He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey to the late Peter and Henrietta Ahrens Berlinghof. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was an Army ordinance wheel vehicle mechanic. Mr. Berlinghof retired from the West Hoboken Express Tose Interstate Motorfrieght System as a truck driver after more than 25 years of service and was a member for more than 25 years of the Teamster’s NJ locals 560, 641 and 617. He also worked as a custodian for the Union City, New Jersey Schools. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mr. Berlinghof was a Third Degree Mason for over 25 years and was a member of the Malta Doric Lodge #86 in New Jersey. He has lived in the Virginia Beach, Virginia area for almost 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise Berlinghof; six daughters, Gail, Diane, Doreen, Lisa, Susanne and Roseanne; six grandchildren, Megan and Ashley Hale, Christopher Acosta, Peter J. Purcell and Juan and John Acosta; sister, Antoinette Rehe and a brother, George Berlinghof.
A visitation will be held in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, VA. Chapel, on Saturday, June 19, 2004 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at 2:00pm with Pastor Charles N. Moore.
Flowers are accepted but the family prefers that memorial donations be made to Lee
